From the classic “Greetings from Orlando” postcard mural to just announced new moving art gallery, Orlando is filled with artistic expressions on walls and billboards across the city:
The Mills 50 District near Downtown Orlando is artsy and full of murals (more than 35!) created by local street artists. The wall art found along the side of buildings throughout North Mills Avenue tells stories of the area and makes for great photo ops.
Downtown Orlando also boasts its fair share of local street art at both eye level and high up on the buildings, like the famous “Greetings From Orlando” mural on Uncle Tony’s Donut Shoppe on North Orange Ave. Art lovers may also enjoy this self guided tour of public art installations, with many nearby the picturesque Lake Eola.
Other areas like the Parramore District, WestArt District and Kissimmee play canvas to murals featuring Charlie Chaplin, Martin Luther King Jr. and a giant “Burrowing Owl.”
Florida’s major interstate highway, I-4, is set to become the longest and fastest-moving art gallery. Soon to feature a series of 35 billboards stretching along Central Florida’s Interstate 4, the Corridor Project Billboard Exhibition’s artwork will be created by 30 local artists and will debut in January 2022.
